ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the parliamentary committee on
Friday decided to conduct interviews of nominated jud
ges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) before appointing them.
The J
udicial commiss
ion as in the past used to nominate the candidates would continue to do so in the future and would send its nom
inations to the parliamentary committee. However, the committee now could summon the candidates nominated by the j
udicial commission for the post of a judge with the superior j
udiciary. Previously, the committee did not have the mandate to do interview of any person nominated for the post of the judge with high courts.
